Based on children’s building blocks games, Lumière Noire encourages the player to build a castle made of polystyrene fluorescent cubes (glowing under black light), which will be reproduces on screen. When the physical castle collapses, on purpose or by accident, an animation is played on screen and the digital castle is destroyed. The animation played depends on the cubes’ positioning and color, the goal being to find them all.
Just like in children’s building blocks games, destruction is as important as the construction.
