Madame Cabane is an installation using alternative controllers that presents itself as a simple children’s rhythm game. Play in harmony with your friends by activating the cabin’s toys to make your mountain grow. Everything is designed to help you improve together: listen to it carefully! But how far will you obey when the game seems unfair? What impact will your disagreement have on your friends? And most importantly, when did you stop having fun?
This “trap game” questions toxic workplace cultures. Toyification, gamification, happiness manager: the working world adopts a kid-friendly vocabulary to attract future employees. A climate of muted competition, maternal surveillance, and worker infantilization then takes hold. By staging these dynamics, Madame Cabane aims to bring out behaviors of struggle and resistance among participants.
